Summary

In Gin Point, Iowa, the Union Army Enrolment Office is sifting through the locals for recruits. Jim McGaughey, a Harvard-educated doctor far from home, is determined to enlist, despite being exempt from the draft. When one young would-be soldier, roughed up by troopers, goes missing in suspicious circumstances, Jim - now a cavalry trooper - forms an alliance with the youth's sister, who is desperate to discover the truth.
