Forth & Clyde canal guidebook

1985
Books, Manuscripts
The Forth & Clyde Canal has a special fascination. As Britain's first sea to sea canal it occupies a unique place in our maritime history. As Scotland's longest stretch of fresh water it is an important addition to our lowland landscape. The canal which once bustled with seagoing puffers and fishing boats is now a quiet and sometimes beautiful part of our scenery. It can be enjoyed in so many ways - boating on water, walking along the towpath, or in search of wildlife or history.
