The British Newspaper Archive offers online access to millions of pages of British and Irish newspapers from 1710-1954. The British Newspaper Archive was launched in 2011 as a partnership between the British Library and family history website Findmypast. 690,000 newspapers from the Victorian period; 46,000 newspapers printed during the First World War; 36,000 newspapers printed during the Second World War. Publications from England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Historical newspapers contain a wide variety of information, including; Original reports about historical events; Births, marriages, deaths and obituaries; Local court reports and criminal trials; Sports scores; Advertisements; llustrations and cartoons.
